My EPSON T10 Printer runs out of ink easily

My wife fortunately won this Epson T10 printer over a raffle in their Christmas party last December 2009. We utilize it only this May 2010, because we are still using our old HP printer, we only decided to use T10 when our HP printer runs out of ink.

At first I thought we would be able to save expenses for ink since this printer offers a newer technology and the ink cartridges are sold separately meaning we would only replace the cartridge that we frequently use, also as stated on its box it prints faster with 22 pages per minute. The printing characteristics was OK but I should say after I print 35 pages term paper the low ink signal begun to blink and it showed a warning that black ink was about to run out. Comparing to our HP printer I think this Epson model is inferior because in our HP printer even if I print as many as 50 pages it won’t run out of ink that easily. Also what I noticed about this printer is that it is very noisy during the printing process. I’ve printed 26 pages and it consumed around 20 minutes so also the 22 pages per minute is not true. The ink cartridges can be sold by set for P1360 (all four colors) but if you’re going to buy individual cartridge it would cost P500 each. The ink cartridge price is similar to our old HP printer but HP prints many pages than this Epson T10.

Enough of this negative feedbacks, Epson T10 also has its good side it has a program that if the black ink will soon be ran out it would ask the user if he/she would allow the printer to mix all other remaining color to create a composite black. For me this characteristic is somehow unique with Epson so at least there is one good side.  Good thing we only acquire it through raffle because if I’m the one who bought it and we had this experience, I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. Can you tell something about your printer.

We’ve had our HP PSC 1440 Printer for around 5 years now, and I get a decent 100-something pages per black cartridge. The color cartridge rarely runs out, but maybe that is because I typically print just documents with some colored logos. The black cartridge is around P700– Not bad, in my book. Although, I am thinking of getting a printer with a continuous ink system so I can print much more.

I do like the continuous ink feature, and I hope other companies start using it soon, but I’ve never been happy with epson. I’ll stick with my Canon and HP printers. If I won one, I’d probably just try to sell it on e-bay or use it for a giveaway on one of my blogs.

    I used Epson Printers like T11 , T101 , T111 & T13 also.
I used Cont. Ink Supply System (CISS) with sverals but everytime result was unexpected. After some days of using CISS, the printer head caused jam and result useless print out. This is the cause that these printers carry Individual Ink Cartridges (like Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,Black), if one of them get jam into printer head, the print out result useless.

Then I gave up CISS and used Original Ink Cartridge (like 73N/91N).
There not the actual solution found. If any one of the cartridges run out of Ink and replace with new one ,printer sucks more than some ink as ‘Ink Charging’ from every Ink Cartridges(C,M,Y & K).

and another one is if somehow power supply cuts durind printing , then after giving the power supply to the printer it takes ‘Ink Charging’.
