Anne Curtis is The New Dyesebel!

Finally, there is a new actress who will play the iconic role of “Dyesebel,” in the upcoming Philippine fantasy drama TV series.

Anne Curtis tweeted on January 9, 2014, to her more than five million followers that she will be playing the role of Dyesebel. According to her, the airing of the tv series is in the Primetime Bida time slot of ABS CBN. Anne Curtis’ exact tweet is “HI, I am Dyesebel. See you all sa Primetime Bida Soon.”

anne curtis dyesebel Years back, popular actresses played the role of Mars Ravelo’s iconic mermaid comic character. There are several adaptations in movies and TV series. The actresses that played the role in the movie version include Vilma Santos, Alice Dixon, Alma Moreno, and Charlene Gonzalez.

For the TV series version, they are Marian Rivera for GMA 7 in 2008, and Anne Curtis for ABS-CBN in 2014. Ara Mina also played the role of Dyesebel (cameo role only) in the 2005 adaptation of Darna, a TV series of GMA 7.

Anne is not new to the role of a mermaid. If we may recall, she was once in the fantasy TV series “Diosa” in 2008. She played the role of “Diyosa Aqua” who is also a mermaid character.

The 2011 adaptation of “Dyesebel” will be top-billed by Anne Curtis with the leading men, Sam Milby and Gerard Anderson.

The supporting casts include Zsa Zsa Padilla, Ai-Ai De Las Alas, Gabby Concepcion, Ogie Diaz, and many more. Directed by Don Cuaresma and Francis Xavier. Airing will commence in the first quarter of this year.

Anne was involved in a bar incident with an actor and actress in 2013 which causes her career to shake. However, having this Big Role only means that ABS CBN still believes in her this 2014. Congrats Miss Anne Curtis for a good start this year.

For those who do not know, “Dyesebel” is a very popular and classic mermaid character in the Philippines. Mars Ravelo created the original comic book story in 1952. Since then, several adaptations are created for movies and TV series.
