What are the Requirements for the Civil Service Exam?

The Requirements for the Civil Service Exam include an accomplished CS Form, ID picture, valid ID, and exam fee payment. The Requirements refer to the list of documents that have to be submitted and testing fees that have to be paid by the examinees (candidates) during the CS exam application process.

The Form contains the candidate’s personal information, educational attainment, government examinations taken, employment, signature, and other details.

ID Picture Requirements

ID Picture Requirements refers to the specifications that the photo ID has to comply such as the dimension, color preference, photo recency, and face-to-frame size ratio. Four (4) pieces ID pictures that meet the indicated specifications below:

  • Philippine Passport photo size of 4.5cm x 3.5 cm (1.78 inches x 1.38 inches)
  • Colored with white background
  • Recent and taken within the last 3 months prior to the filing of your exam application
  • Standard close-up shot in the bare face, your face should occupy 80 percent of the picture
  • You should not wear any eyeglasses, accessories, or makeup in the photo
  • The photo should show your left and right ears
  • Your ID photo should have a handwritten nametag showing your signature above your complete name (First name, middle initial, surname, and extension name)
  • The nametag should be located 1 inch below your chin

ID Card Requirements

An ID Card is a card about 6.7 x 9.9 CM (2 5/8″ X 3 7/8″) in size and is usually made of PVC materials. Printed on it are the full name, photo, date of birth, and signature of the examinee applying for the Civil Service Exam. The examinee has to present the original and photocopy of any of the listed valid IDs during their application.

When an examinee presented an ID card that do not show their date of birth. They should bring the original and photocopy of their birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (formerly NSO) or local civil registry printed on security paper (secpa).

Requirements for Applicants Having a Dual Citizenship

Dual Citizenship means that the applicants are citizens of two different countries simultaneously. In accordance with R.A. 9225, applicants having dual citizenship should bring the original and photocopy of the certificate of retention/re-acquisition of Philippine Citizenship from the Bureau of Immigration.

Cost Requirements (Examination Fee)

The examination fee is between 500 pesos and 680 pesos. It is the sum of money that examinees have to pay as part of the requirements for the civil service exam. Examinees taking the Paper and Pencil Test version have to pay 500 pesos while those taking the CSC COMEX version have to pay 680.00 pesos.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements answer the question of “Who is Eligible to Take the Civil Service PPT and COMEX Examination.” Interested applicants who want to take the CSC examination whether paper and pencil test or computerized examination must meet the following admission requirements.

  • A Filipino citizen who is at least 18 years old during the filing of his/her CSC exam application
  • Should have a good moral character and no criminal record involving moral turpitude
  • Has not been dismissed from a government position or dishonorably discharged from military service
  • Must not take the same Civil Service Exam level in the last 3 months prior to the scheduled exam date

How to Apply for Civil Service Exam?

Examinees can apply for the civil service exam by filling out a CSE application form, preparing all the requirements, submitting the requirements to the regional office, and paying the testing fee. Once done, they have to arrive at the civil service exam testing center to take the exam.
