How to Clean Epson L3150, L3110, L3100 Print Head Nozzle

Cleaning the print head nozzle of an Epson L3150, L3110, or L3100 printer is quite easy. Here are the steps which you can follow to successfully clean the print head of your printer.

To be honest the cleaning process is simple. The downside is it takes time for the cleaning process to complete. However, it’s beyond our control since the printer itself will do the cleaning of its printer head. We just need to press the respective buttons (on the printer panel) or in windows OS.

Just to give you a brief background, L3150 is just the upgraded version of the previous model L3110. If I’m not mistaken, the only distinct difference between the two is you can connect the l3150 via wifi and USB.

It is basically a wireless printer because you can print documents even when you are far away from the printer. As long as you are connected to the same wifi network of your printer.

Why do you need to clean the Epson print head?

There are probably numerous reasons. For common users like you and me, I think the usual issue is when the printer prints the incorrect color of the photo. Also when the printer prints a word document that has a lot of missing letters and lines.

This is a bit frustrating if you asked me. Because the printer consumed the ink and paper but the photo or text document is not presentable. You know the ink may be very affordable, but photo papers and A4-sized papers are not cheap hahaha.

To be fair, in my case, the poor quality output happened after 1.5 years of use. Also, my Epson L3150 Ecotank printer already printed thousands of documents before it shows a sign of deteriorating output quality. Out of topic, surprisingly also, I haven’t bought a new refill bottle since then. Unlike my old T10 printer and my old HP all-in-one printer where I have to buy cartridges every month.

As you can see in the photo, the left part is the printer’s output before I do the cleaning of the print head nozzle. The red colors are unidentifiable and it’s all blue, basically. After the cleaning process which is the right photo, I can easily identify the colors and lines.

How to Clean Epson L3110, L3100, L3150 Print Head in Windows 10

Here is how I was able to clean the printer head nozzle of my L3150. Follow these steps and hopefully, your printer will function again properly, producing quality and presentable documents. These steps are also applicable for cleaning the print head of your Epson Ecotank L3110, L1360, L3100, and L120.

1. Go to the Control Panel of Windows 10

The first thing you need to do is to locate the control panel in Windows 10. You can do this by pressing the Windows icon on your keyboard or go to the start button at the lower left hand on your screen using the mouse. Afterward, open the “Control Panel” app.

If you are familiar with ins and outs of Windows 10, then you can find the control panel app easily. If you are not techy then please follow the steps.

2. Select Hardware and Sound

In the control panel window, you will see the different icons. To view the list of hardware that your PC has, go to “Hardware and Sound.”

Again, there will be choices, you need to proceed to “Devices and Printers.” Under it, select your Epson L3150 printer.

3. Run the Epson L3150, L3100, or L3110 Icon

Now that you see the location of your printer’s icon. You need to run the said application. The location and arrangement may vary as we install different hardware on our PC. In my case, since I am using the L3150 then I run the latter’s icon.  select epson L3150 series network

The new window will show you the links for “web installer,” “Epson Information Center,” “Scanner Management,” and “Printer Management.”

4. Go to the Printer Management

When you visit the “Printer Management” icon, a new window will open where you can see the “Adjust Print Options,” “See What’s Printing,” and “Customize Your Printer” links.

Go to “Adjust Print Options.” It is usually located on the left middle part of the new window.

5. Proceed to the Maintenance Tab under Printing Preferences

Alright, so we are almost done. In the new window, you will see 3 different tabs. The Main, More Options, and Maintenance tabs.

In this part, you need to focus only on the two icons under the Maintenance tab. These are Nozzle Check and Head Cleaning.

6. Run Nozzle Check

If you experienced that your printer produces poor-quality images or missing letters on your text document. Running the nozzle check is the first thing that you need to do. In this way, you will know if the print head is clogged or not.

Before you run the nozzle check, you can also check visually the eco tank of your L3150 printer if it has sufficient ink on it. As you can see in the photo, my printer has enough ink to run the nozzle check. Good, right!

Make sure that you load a standard-sized paper in the rear feed of your L3150 printer. You should know this location hahaha. Alright, run the Nozzle check now!

Examine the patterns on the paper. Did you see any colored broken lines? If it is the case then your printer’s nozzle might be clogged. Proceed to the next step.

I have here the actual printer output but I only show photos of the first, fourth, seventh, and eighth nozzle cleaning. As you can see the first cleaning really shows that the yellow and pink nozzles are clogged so it is considered “No Good.”

After several tries, I achieve the “Good” condition. How do I know that? I can already see the colors namely Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black clearly and there are no broken lines.

7. Run the Head Cleaning Process

This process consumes ink. So, make sure that the ink in the tank of your printer is above the critical line. Otherwise, you won’t be able to run the Head Cleaning process.

After this process, repeat the previous step (STEP 6). Examine the patterns again on the paper to see if there is an improvement in the quality. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until all the colored lines are printed properly by your Epson L3150 printer.

That’s it! As I always mentioned, I hope this helps you in cleaning the print head nozzle of your L3150, L3110, L3100, or any L-Series Epson printer.
