Explanation Why Wedding Ring was Worn in the Fourth Finger

Do you know why married couples wear their wedding ring on their fourth finger? I also wonder why they do so. Simply because you can wear your ring on any of your fingers as long as it fits. Then I was able to watch a youtube video, which is by far the best and most convincing explanation of why the wedding ring was worn on the fourth (4th) or ring finger.

I have tried what was being told in the video to minimize my doubt. As a result, it is true that the fourth fingers of our hands are inseparable while practicing what was in the video. The explanation is said to be from the Chinese where every finger stands for each member of our family.

According to the video, the fingers in our hands represent the different persons in our life. The thumb represents your parents, your index finger represents your siblings (brothers and sisters). The middle finger represents yourself, your ring finger represents your spouse or life partner, and last your little finger represents your children.

It shows in the video how each of the fingers can be separated while the index fingers are bound to be together no matter how you intentionally try to separate them. It comes with respective explanations. Thumbs can be separated because your parents are not destined to live with you for the rest of your lives.

The index fingers can be separated because your siblings will also have their own families. The pinkie finger can also be separated. The reason is your children will grow up and eventually will get married and have families of their own.

For whatever reason, you cannot separate your ring finger, because you are meant to be with your spouse through thick and thin. That is probably the main reason why the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger. Try it for yourself and give me feedback if this video was wrong.

Wow, that’s great! But the other explanation I’ve heard, long ago, was that the Romans believed there was a vein that ran from that finger directly to the heart! Putting a gold ring on that finger, would lock the emotions in your heart in place forever. :D
