To honor Megan Lynne Young, in her triumph in the recent 2013 Miss World Pageant, the Philippine Postal Corporation released a limited edition PhilPost stamp.
It features her image during the crowning moment of the said prestigious pageant held in Bali, Indonesia on September 28, 2013. Her full name was also shown in the stamp above the Miss World 2013 title.
According to the postmaster general of PhilPost Maria Josefina De La Cruz. They will only release 80,000 pieces of regular stamps that will feature Megan Young.
The public can get one stamp for the price of Php 30 and Php 40 respectively. Aside from the stamps, there are also 7000 souvenir sheets which cost Php 100 each. Both stamp designs are printed using a gold embossed stamping technique.
Megan Lynne Young is the first Filipina to win the prestigious Miss World crown. She bested 126 candidates worldwide. She was the third Filipina that was featured in Philpost Stamp following 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, and Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran.
Prior to joining the pageant, Megan Young is an actress from ABS CBN, a TV host, a video jockey (VJ), a former Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 housemate, and a Starstruck season 2 alumna (reality talent search of GMA7).
Update in 2020:
The 29-year-old beauty queen/actress Megan Young marries her long-time boyfriend actor and model Mikael Daez on January 25, 2020.
In her Instagram post, Megan revealed that they met each other during an event in 2010 (7 years ago estimated based on her Instagram post date). She was the one hosting the event, and Mikael Daez is one of the models.
The actress told that the venue is cold and she was feeling a bit down. Fortunately, the actor lends her his jacket. As a result, according to Megan, that small gesture has left a lasting impression on her. As the usual saying goes, the rest is history.
