Hey Daydreamer is the lead single from the self-titled music album “Somedaydream,” written and composed by singer/songwriter Rez Toledo. The song is 3 minutes 43 seconds long under the pop, alternative dance, and synthpop music genres.
The hit single “Hey Daydreamer” was released in January 2011. It became so popular that in the early months of the same year, it occupies the top charts of both TV and radio music channels. Furthermore, it was chosen as the song of the year by RX 93.1 on its OPM Yearend Countdown for 2011.
Also, Selecta, a Filipino-owned brand featured the song in the 30-second TV commercial for its Cornetto Disc product.
In an interview conducted by Yahoo Philippines (www.youtube.com/@yphnewsroom), Rez Toledo shared that “Hey Daydreamer” was his third song. He composed the song with his acoustic guitar.
In another interview at Myx Global (www.youtube.com/@MYXGlobal) dated May 31, 2011, he shared that “Hey Daydreamer” was somewhat a concept song. He was inspired to write the said hit single because he wanted to have a song that has the word “Daydream” with it since the title of his solo band is “Somedaydream.” Eventually, it became the phrase “Hey Daydreamer.” From there, he comes up with the lyrics.
