Astig Pinoy dance group from Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental was crowned as It’s Showtime’s 4th grand champion. At the end of their performance, they received an average score of 9.933 from the respective judges.
The dance group made probably the biggest leap yet from showtime performer and got the most deserving win. Astig Pinoy already made their mark as one of the most unique dance presentations since the monthly finals where they manage to incorporate a modern dance routine to our very own tinikling.
What’s really surprising is that the dancer who steps over in between the bamboo poles is blindfolded.
On December 10, 2011, at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City Rizal, Astig Pinoy showcased again their talent but with a very huge improvement on their concept.
One of the highlights is when every member performing the Philippines’ traditional folk dance tinikling, and jumping rope portion are blindfolded.
It is the perfect dance presentation I have ever seen so far that gets me goosebumps while watching the replay.
Astig Pinoy took home a total of 2 Million pesos where half or 1 Million of which will go to their represented barangay at Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental. They outperformed 13 other finalists that participate in the event.
Originally, there is supposedly 14 participants during Showtime’s grand finals. However, 1 group was not able to perform due to an injury that happened to one of its members.
