Smart offers free text online in the Philippines through the popular social networking site, Facebook. Smart introduced gotxt app on Facebook to offer free text message to its subscribers across the Philippines.
Globe and Sun Cellular subscribers can also use the app to send free SMS to friends who subscribed to smart. However, there is a cap on the number of free text messages that can be sent through Facebook.
Every gotxt app users should receive at least a reply equivalent to P1 for every 3 free text sent to other party to continue the service. As I may recall this service is somewhat similar to chikka messenger.
Steps to avail smart free text via Facebook
Step 1: Log-in to your Facebook account
After you log in, search for the gotxt PH app on the search box or go to the link https://apps.facebook.com/gotxtph. Allow the app to get access to your personal data. You will be redirected to its website.
Step 2: Visit the plus (+) sign
It is located next to my buddies to add as many contacts as you want. To add contact key-in the name and smart number on the space provided, and then hit the right arrow key.
Step 3: To start sending free text messages to smart subscriber friends
All you need to do is click the contact name to open its message box on the new window. Allowable SMS characters are only 138.
