SSS Coding for Walk-in Transactions of Members 2023

SSS now accepts walk in for its members in all their branches in NCR and selected offices in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through a number coding system. Members and employers can visit their preferred branch based on the 10th digit of their SS number.

The Social Security System implements a number coding scheme to allow the members to submit documents and file benefits claims to their preferred sss office even without an appointment schedule. Provided however that they visit the sss branch during the designated transaction day based on the 10th digit of their SS number or employer (ER) ID number.

For example, if the member’s ss number is 27-9876543-1, the 10th digit which is “1” will mean that the said member has to walk in to the sss branch on Monday. If the 10th digit ends in 8 it means that the member must visit their preferred branch on Thursday.

• 1 and 2 – Monday / Lunes
• 3 and 4 – Tuesday / Martes
• 5 and 6 – Wednesday / Miyerkules
• 7 and 8 – Thursday / Huwebes
• 9 and 0 – Friday / Biyernes

Note 1: If the transaction day of an SSS member falls under holiday, the member has an option to go to the sss office on the next working day. Alternatively, he/she can go back on the following week based on the designated transaction date.

For example, according to the sss coding schedule, if the 10th digit of your ss number is 5 or 6 you are supposed to make a transaction on Wednesday. However, the latter falls on May 1 (Labor Day) which is a regular holiday. According to the guidelines, you can walk in to your preferred SSS office on the next working day which is Thursday. If unfortunately, you won’t be able to make it on the said day then you have to return to the SSS office on Wednesday of the following week.

Note 2: In the occurrence of what you called “System downtime / Offline” the respective sss branch will designate a next-day appointment schedule for sss members waiting in line during the time the branch experienced the downtime. For example, it’s Thursday, and while you are waiting for your turn to make the transaction in an SSS branch, suddenly a “system downtime / offline” happened. SSS will then give you an appointment schedule for the next day which is Friday.

On the day itself, SSS/ER members also have the option to wait for the sss system to become operational/online. Or they can return to the branch on the designated transaction day of the following week.

Based on my experience only. The number coding scheme does not apply to members who will walk in to pay for their sss contribution.

What is the Proper Attire when visiting an SSS Branch

Observe proper attire when you visit an SSS branch. To avoid unnecessary issues on your part it is better to wear appropriate clothing when visiting any sss office. Based on my observation the sss security guards will not accept members who wear the following “improper” attires.

• Spaghetti straps/tank tops
• Bareback
• Sleeveless / Plunging Necklines
• Tube
• Skirts / Skimpy shorts
• Low waist pants
• Jersey basketball shorts/shorts
• Cap

Can I Schedule an Appointment with SSS?

Yes, you can do it online. To do so, visit the SSS website and then log in to your mysss account. Afterward, mouse over to the “Member Info” tab and then to the Appointment System. Once there, select your purpose, branch, and appointment date.
