How to Setup SSS Security Questions?

SSS recently implements another account recovery feature called the “Security Questions.” This is to help each member retrieve the login details for their online account in case they forget them.

This is also another option for the members to update their login details if they have no access to the email address that they use to register to sss.

The sss security questions are preset questions that members have to provide an answer to. These questions may be common to everyone but the answer is very personal and unique to the member.

For example, one of the security questions you can find on the list is “In what town or city was your first job?” All the members who have experienced getting a job for the first time can come up with an answer to this one.

But, it is only you who can recall the correct answer to it to update your account’s login details.

Currently, there are 10 questions that you can choose from. SSS will ask you to select your preferred two security questions. Afterward, provide your answers in the given space.

According to SSS, your answers will help them verify your identity as a member. As a result, they will unlock your account.

Steps to setup the security question for your sss account

Step 1. Login to your account in sss portal

Visit the sss homepage sss.gov.ph. Under portal, go to the “member login” page.

On the given space input your user id and password. Tick the “I’m not a robot” box and submit.

Step 2. Setup your security question

If this is your first time logging in to your account prior to the implementation of the “security question” feature. Sss will show you a popup window requesting you to set up your security question.

You have a choice to set it up immediately or later.

Step 3. Select two security questions and answer them

As I have mentioned earlier there are 10 questions on the list. Choose the question that is appropriate and at the same time memorable to you.

When I say appropriate it means to choose the question that you can provide an answer to. For example, the question “What are the last six digits of your driver’s license?” Is appropriate if you have a driver’s license. Otherwise, choose a different question. I hope you get what I mean hahaha. Here are the list of security questions that sss will ask you:

  • In what town or city was your first job?
  • In what town of city did you meet your spouse or partner?
  • What are the last six digits of your driver’s license?
  • In what town or city did your parents meet?
  • What is the first name of your childhood best friend?
  • What was the last name of your Grade 1 teacher?
  • What is the last name of your childhood hero?
  • What is your first pet’s name?
  • What is the nickname of your favorite boss?
  • What is the nickname of your mother?

Note: Never or do not share your answers with anyone.

Step 4. Verify your account with sss

After you select and answer the question. Sss will request you to verify your account. This is by entering your login details in the given space. Tick the “I’m not a robot box and hit “confirm.”

Step 5. Sss will inform that the setup for the security question is successful

There are two ways that sss will tell you that you successfully setup the security question for your account.

The first is via a popup window. The second is by sending you an email to your email address that you registered with SSS. Both will show the transaction number and the date and time you have done the setup.

How to update the security questions

Thankfully, sss also allows its members to update or change their security questions and answers.

To do so, you need to log in to your sss account. At the navigation bar, hover your mouse over the member info tab. A drop-down menu will show up. Among the choices select “update security question.”
Select the security question that you want to update. You have the option to update both questions or just one.

Note: Sss requests that your answer will be in one word, with no special characters, and preferably in English.

Once you are finished choosing your question and providing an answer. SSS will again ask you to enter your password and verify that you are not a robot.

Afterward, sss will show you a popup window and will send you an email informing you that you are successful in updating your security questions.

That’s basically it.
