How to Find the TESDA Tailoring / Dressmaking Schools Near You
Step 1: Visit TESDA’s Official website
TESDA’s official website is www.tesda.gov.ph. Use your favorite browser and type the said URL on the search bar and then search.
Step 2: Go to For Learners and Workers Page
At the homepage scroll down until you see the “For Learners and Workers” located in the middle part of the page. Tap the link to see the popup window. In the latter, under Training, go to the “Registered Courses” link.
Step 3: Type Tailoring or Dressmaking and Location in the Given Space
Type either “Tailoring” or “Dressmaking” as your chosen course and your city or province location in the respective box.
In the example, I input “Bacolod.” As a result, the TESDA website shows the list of accredited schools that offer the Tailoring course in Bacolod. Based on TESDA’s database, there is one school that offers dressmaking as well as tailoring in the said city.
Step 4: Get the Details of the TESDA Schools and Inquire about the training
Get the complete name of the school, address, and telephone number. Afterward, inquire with them about the course duration, admission requirements, class schedule, and tuition fee.
Step 5: Enroll in the Tailoring / Dressmaking School
Based on the information that you have acquired. It’s about time that you enroll in the school to start your training.
How to Enroll in the Tailoring / Dressmaking Training in TESDA Accredited Schools
By this time, you already know how to find the list of schools that offer dressmaking and/or tailoring training. Here is a simple guide on how to enroll in the school.
Step 1: Select the Tailoring / Dressmaking school
Based on the list of schools that TESDA shows you, select your preferred 3 schools that are nearest to your place. It should be within 1 hour travel time from your house.
Consider the reputation of the school. If possible, ask a friend or relative who took the tailoring or dressmaking training if they will recommend the said school. If they will, then it must be good.
Take note also of the tuition fee. Check the schools has the most affordable tuition fee and payment options. Inquire to them if they offer discounts for students who will pay on a cash basis, compared to installment.
Determine which of the tailoring/dressmaking school offer a favorable class schedule. If you work during the daytime and will take the tailoring/dressmaking training in the evening or on weekends. Then consider the school’s training schedule with respect to your work schedule.
Rank the schools in the list in terms of “Most Favorable” to “Least Favorable.”
Step 2: Inquire with the School about the Requirements
Inquire with your “Most Favorable” school about their enrollment requirements and gather them the soonest.
Some documents may take time to acquire such as Form 137, or Form 138, diploma, and good moral character because you have to go back to your High School alma mater to get them.
Step 3: Pay the Tuition Fee, submit your Requirements and Enroll at the Tailoring/Dressmaking School
The common procedure is you can submit your documents and pay your tuition fee on the same day. So, bring the required documents and funds as you visit your school. Also, proceed with the enrollment. Congratulations, by this time, you are now enrolled in Tailoring or Dressmaking school.
Step 4: Attend the Tailoring/Dressmaking Training
While in the class, learn everything. Inquire to your teachers about the topics that you do not understand. If your teacher needs a volunteer then raise your hand and become one. This will help you absorb the lessons quickly.
After each class, review at home so you can master the lessons. This will help you prepare for the next step which is the assessment examination. You need to take the latter so you will become a TESDA certified Tailor or Dressmaker. Good luck!
What are TESDA’s Admission Requirements for Tailoring/Dressmaking Training
These are the common requirements that TESDA-accredited schools request from their upcoming students:
- PSA Birth Certificate (original and photocopy)
- High School Diploma (original and photocopy)
- Colored ID Picture
- Barangay Clearance (original and photocopy)
- Marriage Certificate (for married enrollees)
- Good Moral Character (from High School or College)
- College Diploma for College Graduate (original and photocopy)
- Long Brown Envelope
Note: Inquire with the school about their specific requirements and quantity
How Long is TESDA Tailoring / Dressmaking Training
The duration of the tailoring dressmaking training is between 240 hours to 294 hours or 3 months to 4 months at 4-hour sessions per day. This still varies depending on the school schedule.
There are schools that offer garments training which includes tailoring and dressmaking training at 550 hours or 7 months at 4-hour sessions per day.
How much is the Assessment Fee for TESDA Tailoring / Dressmaking Course
The assessment fee for both Tailoring NC and Dressmaking NC is between 1348.00 pesos to 1648.00 pesos.
The full assessment fee for Tailoring NC II is 1684.00 pesos. The assessment fees by COC are the following:
- COC1 is around 836.00 pesos
- COC 2 is around 1191.00 pesos
The full assessment fee for Dressmaking NC II is 1348.00 pesos. The assessment fees by COC are the following:
- COC 1 is around 838.00 pesos
- COC 2 is around 1111.00 pesos
