What is the meaning of “Push Mo Yan Te”
Basically, it is a Tagalog – English (Taglish) phrase that expresses encouragement to the person receiving it.
Many Filipinos use the phrase to show moral support to their relatives, friends, and acquaintances when these people are facing a difficult task or want to follow through with their dreams.
The “Teh or Te” is the informal version of “Ate” which refers to an older sister. Friends also used to phrase within their circle regardless of age or gender. However, it is the girls who often use it. I think the closest English translation for the phrase is “Go Girl,” or “Keep it Up, Sister.”
Often you will hear people (on the street) speak these words of encouragement when their close friends are about to take a school examination, or going for a job interview.
